The effects of the 1929 Depression began to take their toll on Yonkers, but buildings that had been previously budgeted for continued to go up in the downtownproviding some relief for the increasing number of unemployed workers. In 1930 the City began construction of William Katzs Health Center for Yonkers expanding Department of Health. |

Fleet Bank
Yonkers tallest office building went up in 1931 on the site of the former Getty Square train station. Also designed by William Katza local architect who specialized in the Art Deco style the building boasts the finest Art Deco interior in the city, its lobby and banking floor lavishly ornamented with a variety of marbles. |
